Assessment Process
- A minimum of 3+ years (depending on the occupation) of work experience in the nominated occupation
- Verifiable work experience documents
- Functional English proficiency
The assessment process depends on whether you have an Australian qualification or an Australian occupational license.
Those who do not hold an Australian qualification or occupational license will fall under pathway one. If you are eligible for a trade skills assessment and possess the skills required for the nominated occupation, you need to provide proof of your employment, skills, and qualifications. Your proof must demonstrate that you have at least three years of experience in your occupation. This three years of work experience must be verifiable.
Stage One: Evidence Review
- An assessor or assessing team will review the documentary evidence provided to verify if you have sufficient employment experience and the skills required to work in your occupation in Australia.
- When reviewing the documentary evidence, the assessor or assessing team will conduct checks, including contacting or corresponding with your referees, to confirm the authenticity of your information.
Stage Two: Practical Assessment & Technical Assessment
- Once you clear the evidence review, you will be asked to pay a fee and complete a technical interview or practical assessment. In the technical interview, an assessor will ask you a range of questions about the skills required for the nominated occupation.
- In the practical assessment, you will complete a series of tasks based on the assessor’s instructions and be assessed by an assessor from Australia and an external assessor.
- All assessments are held in English, and no interpreter is allowed.
Stage Three: Receive Your Assessment Outcome
If the skills assessment is successful, you will receive:
- A successful assessment outcome letter
- An Australian certificate III or IV qualifications from the designated RTO, Australia
If the skills assessment is unsuccessful, you will receive:
- An unsuccessful assessment outcome letter
- The option to re-apply for the next assessment
Those who hold an Australian qualification or occupational license will fall under pathway two.

- During the technical interview, an assessor will ask a wide range of questions related to your skills and occupation.
- All assessments are held in English and no interpreter will be allowed.
Stage Three: Receive Your Assessment Outcome
If your pathway two assessment is successful, you will receive:
- A successful outcome letter
If your pathway two assessment is unsuccessful, you will receive:
- An unsuccessful outcome letter
- The option to re-apply for the next assessment
