Assessment Process

The assessment process depends on whether you have or do not have an Australian qualification or Australian occupational license.

For those who do not hold an Australian qualification or occupational license, they will be coming under pathway 1.

If you are eligible for a Trade Skills Assessment and have the skills for the nominated occupation, you need to provide proof of your employment, skills and qualification. Your proof must show that you have at least three years of experience in your occupation. These three years of work experience must be verifiable

Stage One: Evidence review

An assessor/ assessing team will review the documentary evidence provided to check if you have sufficient employment experience and skills required to work in your occupation in Australia. When reviewing the documentary evidence, the assessor/assessing team will conduct checks including calling/mailing your referees to confirm whether your information is genuine.

Stage Two: Practical Assessment and/or Technical Assessment

Once you clear the evidence review, you will be asked to pay a fee and complete a Technical Interview /Practical Assessment
In the Technical Interview, an assessor will ask you a range of questions about the skills required as per the nominated occupation. In the Practical Assessment, you will complete a series of tasks based on the assessor’s listing and be assessed by an assessor from Australia and an external assessor.
All assessments are held in English and no interpreter is allowed.

Stage Three: Receive your assessment outcome

If Skills Assessment is successful, you will receive:

  1. A Successful Assessment Outcome letter.
  2. An Australian Certificate III or IV qualification from the designated RTO, Australia

If Skills Assessment is unsuccessful, you will receive:

  1. An Unsuccessful Assessment Outcome letter.
  2. The option to re-apply for the next assessment.

For those who hold an Australian qualification or occupational license, they will be coming under pathway 2.

Stage Three: Receive your assessment outcome

If your Pathway Two Assessment is successful, you will receive:

  1. A Successful Outcome letter.

If your Pathway Two Assessment is unsuccessful, you will receive:

  1. An Unsuccessful Outcome letter.
  2. The option to re-apply for the next assessment.
